Hyperic's CloudStatus service monitors the health of Google's App Engine, Datastore, memcache, and URLFetch services.
The CloudStatus service determines the health of Google services based on data reported by Hyperic HQ agents running on network-disparate servers, which poll an instrumented App Engine application. The HQ agents obtain availability and performance data by exercising various App Engine services in typical usage scenarios.
The availability and performance metrics are stored in an HQ server, enabling the CloudStatus service to present historical as well as real-time cloud health and performance metrics.
The health of a Google service is an indicator of its current and recent quality of service. Health reflects the availability of a service and the performance of key service operations.
Healthy—indicates full health and satisfactory performance
Issues—indicates partial health, instances of less than satisfactory performance, or both
Service Failure—indicates service not available, or poor health
